Betty June Huck, 90, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2019 after a long period of dementia. Betty June Carver was born in Marietta, Ohio on August 9, 1928 to the late Homer Clyde Carver and Marie Wharton Carver.
Betty June attended Marion Elementary School in Marietta, Ohio and graduated from Marietta High School in 1946. Following high school graduation, Betty June attended Marietta College before marrying Louis E. Huck, Jr., her high school sweetheart, on October 23rd, 1949. She was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, and was formerly an active member of the Marietta Welfare League and the Chi Honor Chapter of the Ohio Child Conservation League. Her outgoing personality and love of meeting new people was a great asset to her as the receptionist in the Marietta College Admissions Office as well as in her 31 years of volunteer service to Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Days spent at the O’Neill Adult Day Center were much brighter days for Betty June. When the time came that she could no longer go to the O’Neill, she still enjoyed an occasional ride through her home town with one stop for an ice cream cone. Her favorite place in the world outside of Marietta was any beach in Florida or South Carolina.
Betty June, known to family as Nana BJ and to her many friends as BJ, is survived by her daughter Cindy (Mike) Pyles, sons Mike (Susan), Jay (Tracey), and Joe (Ann), all of the Marietta area; six grandchildren, John (Rachel) Pyles, Sarah Miller (Dave), Jessie, Adam, Abby, and Austin (Tori) Huck; five great-grandchildren, Camryn June and Vince Parks, Ben and Lucas Pyles, and Ryan Miller; sister-in-law Joan Milsark Huck; uncle Bill Wharton; several nieces and nephews; and Patrick, her little Maltese.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and her husband Louis who passed away May 10, 2018.
Funeral Liturgy, with Mass will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption. The family will greet friends at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Friday, April 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a Vigil service held at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. Betty June will be laid to rest in Putnam Cemetery.
The family extends its gratitude and sincere thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley and the Amedisys Hospice, Lois Hasley and her team of caregivers Alisha, Christa, Faye, Kayle, Kelly and Paige, the O’Neill Adult Day Center, Dr. Mike Brockett and family, and Betty June’s many friends for their support. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the O’Neill Adult Day Center or Amedisys Hospice. Cawley & Peoples is honored to serve Betty June’s family, offering on-line condolences and many other resources by visiting .

Jay and Tracey and family, and to all of her kids and grandkids....all family, I am sorry to hear this. I know she had dementia. Which was hard on everyone to see. I seen Louis the end of 2017. He talked about his health failing and of Betty June's troubles. I'll never forget them. They were two of the most caring, and loving people. It showed in the sweet love they shared for each other. Love, thoughts and prayers.
