Bruce Joseph Benton

Aug 3, 1965 — Jul 11, 2026

Marietta

Bruce Joseph Benton, a resident of Marietta, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on August 3rd, 1965, in Marietta, Bruce spent his entire life in the community he loved.

Bruce was a devoted husband to Jackie Louise Benton, whom he married on May 1, 1996. Together, they built a loving family and shared countless memories.

He is survived by his three daughters, Autumn Benton-Hill and her husband Cyrus, Abby Benton, and Mayah Benton, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Nora Lewis, Brett Benton, Angie Stevens and her husband Tim, and Rob Benton, as well as many nieces and a nephew, and his mother in law, Lois McKnight. Bruce's beloved dog, Charlie, was always by his side.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Norris Benton and Jeanette Burke Benton, his brother John Benton, and his brother-in-law Richard Lewis.

Bruce was a proud alumnus of Marietta High School, class of 1983, and he furthered his education at Ohio University. He dedicated many years of his professional life as a laborer with Marietta Plumbers & Pipefitters UA Local 168 and previously worked at Forma Scientific.

Bruce lived a quiet simple life that focused on his love of Steeler football, the Buckeyes, his family and his friends. "Steeler Sundays" were sacred, an elite club where even family may not get let in and friends who rooted for the Bengals or the Browns were not even allowed on the porch. Next to his love of the Steelers were his three daughters. He loved with all his heart and soul and was fiercely proud of the women they have become. He was so happy to finally gain a son, when he walked Autumn down the aisle in May, Bruce couldn't ask for a better person for Autumn and he loved Cyrus like his own son. Bruce never met a stranger, was always down for a good catch-up, and his friends would joke, was always campaigning "Goldie for Mayor".

Abiding with his wishes, cremation arrangements have been made and a celebration on his life will be held in the fall. The Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home is honored to serve Bruce's family during this difficult time. Friends and family are invited to offer their condolences and share memories by visiting their website at www.CawleyandPeoples.com or by following their Facebook page.
