Carl Eugene Douglas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on June 24, 1946, in Akron, Ohio to Carl and Mary Elizabeth Bostaph Douglas, Carl was a cherished resident of New Matamoras, Ohio, where he spent much of his life dedicated to his family and community.

He was a proud graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1964, and pursued a career as an electrician, completing four years of electrical training. He worked as a Union Electrician for 48 years before retiring in 2002. His dedication to his craft and his work ethic were admired by all who knew him.

Carl was a devout member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Marietta, Ohio. He was also actively involved in several organizations, including the Elks of St. Mary's, WV, the Frontier Lion's Club, and the Ohio Horseman's Council. His passion for community service was evident through his work as an EMT for the Newport and New Matamoras fire departments and his role as a Little League Baseball Coach for the "A's." His legacy of love, dedication, and service will be cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Karen Douglas, whom he married on June 11, 1981. He leaves behind his sons, Christopher, Jeffrey, and Daniel Douglas, his daughter, Jennifer Medley (Scott), and his step-daughter, Virginia Taylor (Billy). Carl was a proud grandfather to Matthew, Christin, Chloe, Nakia, Gage, Hunter, Hope, Crosby, Luke, and Elizabeth, and a great-grandfather to many. He is also survived by his brothers, Gary and Raymond Douglas (Peggy), and his sisters, Mary Antill, Peggy Adams (Bob), Dorothy Barth, and Betty Neader (Andy). He also will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joanne Farley, and his brothers James, John, and Larry Douglas.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 am, with the Very Rev. Edward Maxfield Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME in Marietta, Ohio, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Graveside Service will take place at East Lawn Memorial Park in Marietta, Ohio at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Newport Fire Department, 38350 State Route 7, Newport, OH, in Carl's memory.
