David Lee Swisher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 9th, 2025. Born on February 21, 1964, in Geneva, Illinois,
David was a cherished resident of Cutler, Ohio, where he lived a life full of love, service, and dedication. David was a proud alumnus of Ohio University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. He began his educational journey at Gallia County High School, setting the foundation for a life of learning and achievement.
David dedicated much of his career to serving his country. He began his military service in the Air Force before transitioning to the U.S. Coast Guard, where he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. After his distinguished military career, David continued to serve the public by working in Human Resources for Public Debt. David was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for history. His love for learning and sharing knowledge was evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Antonia C. Rodriguez Swisher, whom he married on July 11, 1992. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Joshua Swisher, Timothy Swisher (Isabella), and Luke Swisher. David was also the proud grandfather of two granddaughters, Ellie and Oaklynn, who brought immense joy to his life. David is also survived by his two brothers, John Swisher (Sandy) and Ross Swisher (Shelly), along with many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his kindness and wisdom.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Swisher, and his sister, Kay Holley.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME IN MARIETTA, OHIO. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location, with Pastor George Holley officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Churchtown, where full military honors will be observed.
