Dorothy M. Way, 92, of Marietta, Ohio died Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Heartland of Marietta. She was born on July 18, 1924 in Dale, Ohio to Clark and Hazel Wright Dixon. She graduated from Marietta High School and married Glen Way on December 7, 1940. Dorothy was one of the founders of Ewing School in the mid-1950's, and she enjoyed crafting and big band sounds. She and Glen were the first in the area to introduce western style square dancing. Dorothy was the sexton of Putnam Cemetery for Muskingum Township for many years. She is survived by her son, Terry Way of Marietta, niece, Ruth Tebay of Williamstown, WV, great nieces, Jill Ash (Brent) of Sistersville, WV and Jayne Tebay of Marietta, and great nephews, Chuck Tebay of Marietta and David Tebay of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Judith and son, David. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Putnam Cemetery, with The Rev. Elizabeth Campbell Maleke officiating. Family will greet friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
