Douglas William Thompson, a beloved resident of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on August 9th, 1960, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Doug was a cherished member of the community, known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Doug was a proud alumnus of Marietta High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a passion for learning. After completing his education, he served honorably in the United States Army as part of the 463rd Engineering Battalion, where he demonstrated his commitment to service and country.
A successful entrepreneur, Doug owned and operated Best One Computers on Washington Street in Marietta. His business acumen and dedication to customer service earned him the respect and admiration of his clients and peers alike.
Doug was deeply involved in the Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he dedicated countless hours to serving his community. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of feeding deer and squirrels, attending concerts, and spending time with friends around bonfires. He had a particular fondness for trains and trolleys, which he often shared with the children he adored.
Doug is survived by his significant other, Deana Arnold, who was his steadfast companion and source of strength. He also leaves behind cherished friends Diana Heiss (Donivan, Jr.) and Tori Powers, as well as his beloved niece, Kelly Budd. He was preceded in death by his birth father, Joseph Nicholas Thompson, his parents Nancy Forester Hoag Mollenhauer and James Leonard Mollenhauer, his brother Gary Thompson, and his sister Laura Budd.
A visitation will be held at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home in Marietta, Ohio, on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm. Full military honors will be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to any volunteer fire department in the area, honoring Douglas's legacy of service and community involvement.
