Edward Shane Pifer

Edward Shane Pifer, a beloved resident of Little Hocking, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on May 10, 1968, in Weston, West Virginia, Shane was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Shane was a proud graduate of South Harrison High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a love for people watching—a pastime he enjoyed while sitting on a bench, observing those around him. His career as a Service Agent at Avis Rent-A-Car was marked by dedication and a smile.

Shane's gentle spirit and love for his family will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Shane's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving parents, his brother Jonathan Pifer (Carol), his half-siblings Shannon and Edward R. Pifer. He was a devoted uncle to Natasha Anderson (Dustin), and Devan Pifer (Casey). Shane's legacy continues through his great nieces and nephews: Axton Pifer, RaeLynn Anderson, Brantley Pifer, Kizer Anderson, Cashton Pifer, and Corbin Anderson. He is also survived by his uncle, John-John VanHorn.

Shane was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, his aunt Judith VanHorn, and his great aunt Leta Wolfe, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Shane's life at a funeral service on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the BARLOW CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME in Barlow, Ohio with Willie Hood officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
