Edwin John "Jack" Haas Jr., 86, of Vincent, and formerly of Marietta, died June 15, 2013. Born Edwin John "Jack" Haas Junior to Edwin John Sr. and Rosella Hutzel Haas October 19, 1926 in Dayton, OH.
Graduated from St. Peters High School, Mansfield, OH, and attended Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, OH, studying pre-medicine.
He served in a non-combat role in Germany during the Korean War in US Army Heavy Mortar Company, 22nd Regiment, 4th Division from October 1950 through September 1952.
He met Faustena "Frosty" Brown in Dayton, OH on a blind date and married her on December 1, 1956.
Jack was self employed most of life, selling Kool Vent Awnings in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in his youth, and starting in the air conditioning business as a salesman for the LO Warner Company, Dayton, OH in the infancy of residential air conditioning. In Dayton, OH he pioneered a process to utilize cooling water normally wasted by the air conditioning process. Jack held various sales and territory management positions thoughout the late 1950's. In the early 1960's, as a territory manager for an independent Carrier Corporation distributor, he had been generously offered a partnership by Harley R. Morrison as a partner to form Morrison Incorporated. He continued to co-operate Morrison Incorporated until his retirement in the early 1990's. Jack also enjoyed several other business ventures; most notably a nursing home and a hotel.
Jack was active in St. Mary's Catholic Church; serving as president of Parish Council, an usher and facilities consultant. He also served as a division leader for the Marietta United Way, a fund-raiser for the Allohak Council of the Boy Scouts of America and a financial supporter of many worthwhile causes. He was a member of American Legion Post 64.
He was preceded in death by his wife Faustena "Frosty" Haas in 2012, a brother Richard A. Haas in 1995 and an infant daughter Rhonda in 1962.
Jack and Frosty had 7 children, all who earned post-secondary degrees; Debbie K. Hoppe (Paul) of Washington, WV, Sharon D. Hutchinson of Marietta, Carol L. Armann (Jeff) of Marietta, Nancy R. Dodd (Tom) of Nashville, TN, David M. Haas (Leslie) of Marietta, Leigh A. Groth (Scott) of Omaha, NE, and Laura E. Stanney (Kevin) of Columbus, OH.
Jack enjoyed his grandchildren: Justin McIntosh (Jessica) of Columbus, OH, Lindsey Anderson (Adam) of Columbus, OH, Nicole Daggett (Gale) of Parkersburg, WV, Natalie Groves (Brad) of Marietta, Linette Hutchinson of Parkersburg, WV, Alexandra DiMatteo (Andrew) of Norfolk, VA, Jessica Leister (Chad) of Columbus, GA, Brian Miller of Columbus, OH, Callix Miller of Marietta, Olivia Dodd of Nashville, TN, Reagan Haas of Marietta, Nicholas and Brendan Groth of Omaha, NE, and Harper Stanney of Columbus, OH. Jack also was blessed with great grandchildren Kyan McIntosh, Lilliana Martinez, Aubree Daggett and Brok Groves.
Throughout his life, Jack loved to travel, having visited every state in the United States of America, every continent and over 77 countries. He also enjoyed trap and skeet shooting, big band/swing era music, spending time with friends and family, an occasional poker game and home repairs and maintenance. Adamantly resistant to computers during his business career, Jack became a computer fanatic after retirement, operating as many as five networked computers in his home. Jack also loved his many "gadgets."

Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be 10:00am Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with The Reverend Monsignor John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at East Lawn Memorial Park. Jack's family will greet friends at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8pm, where a Vigil Service will be held at 3:00pm on Monday.
