Eldon Elmer Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on September 24, 1941, in Marietta, Ohio to Elmer and Gladys Malone Miller. Eldon was a cherished resident of Marietta and Grove City, Ohio, where he spent his later years surrounded by his family and friends.

Eldon was a dedicated educator, having devoted 32 years of his life to teaching industrial arts at Wolf Creek Local School District. His passion for sports was evident in his roles as an athletic director for 12 years and as a basketball and baseball coach. Even after his coaching days, Eldon remained actively involved in athletics, inspiring countless students and athletes with his commitment and enthusiasm. Eldon had a deep love for sports, particularly Ohio State, Cleveland, Cincinnati teams, and Kentucky Basketball. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who were the light of his life. Eldon will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his students. His legacy of kindness, humor, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A proud alumnus of Lawrence High School, Class of 1959, and Salem College, Class of 1964, Eldon was a lifelong learner who valued education and community service. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Churchtown. His dedication to community extended to his service on the Marietta Bantam League Baseball Board and the Board of Directors for Washington Electric Co-Op. Eldon was also a valued member of the Columbus Grove City Elks #37.

Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Thieman Miller, whom he married on December 26, 1964. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. He is also survived by his two sons, Jay (Kathy) and Jeremy (Lindsey) Miller, and his cherished grandchildren, Ty, Tate, Dylan, and Tayla. Eldon leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends from both Marietta and Grove City who will miss his wonderful sense of humor and love for pulling pranks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marietta, Ohio, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10:00 am with a Graveside Service to follow in the church's cemetery. Visitation will take place at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME at 408 Front Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750 on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Vigil Service at 6:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family highly recommends donations be made in Eldon's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
