Geraldine "Gerry" Helen Beach of Lowell, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on December 3, 2017after a short battle with cancer.
She was born December 18, 1934 to Gerald Floyd and Ruth Ellen Brelsford Beach.
Gerry was a 1952 graduate of Lowell High School and received her degree in Business Education from Ohio University in 1956. She spent the next 31 years teaching Business at Mayfield High School in Mayfield, Ohio. She was a leader and mentor in her teaching community. After retirement in 1987 she maintained life-long friendships with her fellow teachers and graduates.
She returned to her hometown of Lowell in 1997 to enjoy years of special experiences with family and friends, old and new. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grand nieces and nephews and was always up for adventures. She Loved to laugh and found humor when it was least expected.
She was an active member of St. Johns Evangelical Church in Lowell. She enjoyed Learning in Retirement classes at Marietta College and game days and field trips with dear friends. She was an avid sports fan, who cheered for the Buckeyes, Brown, Cavs and Indians, and loved attending local College and High School games. Gerry's generosity and thoughtfulness touched everyone who knew her. She left everything better than she found it and made the world a better place.
She is survived by nieces, Carol Beach Flaherty (Ron) of Trabuco Canyon, California, Ellen Lancaster (Charlie) of Columbus, Jill Phillips (Geoff) of Cincinnati, Elaine McCollough (Mike) of Columbus, Sister-in-Law Sarah Beach of Hilliard, Ohio, nephews Mark (Elizabeth) Newman of Elyria, Paul (Kelly) Newman of Upper Arlington, OH, and great nieces and nephews Brian, Danny, Mathis, Katie, Marina, Madeline, Gavin and Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Joseph Beach, and sister-in-law Sandra Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at St. John's Evangelical Church with Melody Hoskinson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
