Janet "Jan" L. Weisend Hunt, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 22, 1940, in Canton, Ohio, Jan was a cherished resident of Marietta, Ohio.
Jan was a member of the Woodsfield High School Class of 1958. She dedicated many years of her professional life as a receptionist at Washington Electric Co-Op, where her warm smile and kind demeanor left a lasting impression on all who met her.
A devout member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, Jan's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was actively involved in the Democratic Women's Club and volunteered her time generously at Marietta Memorial Hospital and Selby General Hospital. Jan found joy in playing cards, spending time with her family, and cherishing moments with her grand dogs. Her devotion to prayer, especially the Rosary, was a testament to her deep faith. Jan's legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever be cherished with a legacy through her children and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Jan is survived by her loving children, Renee Brown-Ogden (Kirk), Tammie Brown-Schaber, Robert "Bobby" Brown (Janice), and Mark Brown (Joyce). She was a proud grandmother to Aaron, Brandon, Felicia, Mark, Sarah, Alexander, and Ian, and a doting great-grandmother to Hailey, Noah, and Silas. Jan is also survived by her sister, Doris Mallett, her brother, Robert Weisend, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil C. Weisend and Margery E. Yeagle Weisend, and her siblings, Donnie, Rich, and Judy Weisend.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Marietta, Ohio, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 10:00 am with Rev. Edward Maxfield Jr. officiating. A graveside Service will follow the Mass at New St. Mary's Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at the MARIETTA CHAPLE OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME on Friday, January 30th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Vigil Service and Rosary at 6:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of NW Ohio, 30000 East River Road, Perrysburg, OH 43551, in Jan's memory.
