John Francis Rauch

John Francis Rauch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the age of 90. John was a cherished resident of Marietta, Ohio and was born on October 30, 1934, in Lowell, Ohio to Herman and Rosa Boma Rauch.

A proud graduate of Lowell High School, John went on to serve his country in the Army from 1958 to 1961. He was a self-employed business owner who ran a successful car dealership, developed several subdivisions, and dedicated his skills to renovating and remodeling over fifty houses. Known as a "Jack of all trades," John also owned and operated various businesses throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley and even started a drag strip in Belpre, Ohio. His passion for race cars and NASCAR was well known among those who loved him. In addition to his business endeavors, John was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Eagle Lodge, and AmVets in Florida. He will be remembered for his warm personality, his dedication to family, and his relentless work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and family devotion will continue to inspire us all.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Maxine Rauch, whom he married on September 1, 2001. He leaves behind a loving family, including his son, John Patrick "Pat" Rauch (Christine); his treasured grandsons, John David "J.D." and Alex Rauch (Jenna); and daughter-in-law, Lisa Rauch. John is also survived by his stepchildren, Chris Folts (Pam), and Kathy Spaziani, his favorite niece, Beth Reickert, as well as many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ruth; his son, David Rauch; his stepchildren, Richard Huggins (Nancy), Thomas Huggins, Cecil and Cathy Weston, and Kenney Folts; as well as his siblings, Raymond Rauch, Bud Rauch, and Mary Kay Hughes.

A funeral service will be on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME in Marietta, Ohio with Fr. Edward Maxfield and Rev. Cliff Hartley officiating. A graveside service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in Marietta, Ohio. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at the funeral home on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service being held at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in John's memory.
