Joyce Elaine Smith, 80, of Marietta, Ohio, died Friday, December 23, 2016 at Brookdale of Marietta. She was born on February 27, 1936, in Caldwell, Ohio, to Charles and Vera Teters Milligan. Joyce graduated from Caldwell High School. She and her husband are long time members of Putnam Congregational Church, and she loved to read and flower garden. She is survived by her husband, Harry B. Smith, whom she married on July 9, 1955; four children, Elaine Hussell (Kenneth) of Mt. Alto, WV, Elizabeth Brooks of Helena, Montana, Eleanor Faith Smith of Beaver Falls, PA and Nancy Quigley (Jon) of Lexington, NC; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Becky Bettinger of Caldwell; sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Old Washington, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Milligan; and sister-in-law, Judy Milligan. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Putnam Congregational Church, with Pastor Peter Bridgewood officiating. Private burial of her ashes will take place at later time. Memorial contributions may be made the Putnam Congregational Church, 707 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
