Juanita

Surrounded by the love of family and the promise of eternal life, Juanita Mae Gibson, entered into the presence of the Lord on July 26, 2026, after a life devoted to faith, family, and service. Juanita was born on September 16, 1935, at her family's farm in Fleming, Ohio, to Dolpha and Lillian Anderson.

A 1953 graduate of Barlow-Vincent High School, Juanita later worked at Rampp Company, where she met James Gibson. The two were married on April 15, 1956, and celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Juanita was the devoted mother of Thomas Gibson (Jo), Patricia Massett (Michael), and A. Scott Gibson (Michelle). During her children's formative years, she dedicated herself to creating a warm and loving home. She generously gave her time to the PTA, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4-H clubs, band activities, and sporting organizations, faithfully supporting her children in all they pursued. Later in life, she worked as a Regional Claims Secretary at Nationwide Insurance.

Juanita attended Lighthouse Baptist Church, and music held a special place in her heart. She loved to sing, admire the ever-changing beauty of the clouds, cuddle with her favorite dog, and watch with pride and joy as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grew and flourished.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James; her children; and her grandchildren, Zachary (April) Gibson, Elijah (Vanessa) Gibson, Alaina (Casey) Phillis, Jonathan (April) Massett, Andrew (Heather) Gibson, Nikolas (Teisha) Gibson, Taylor (Cole) Myers, Xander Guinn, and Kimberly (Wes) Schramm. She also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren, Violet, Noel, Cameron, Macie, Parker, Ali, Madi, Luke, Eli, Isaiah, Caleb, Lyncoln, Axyl, and Reid. Juanita is also survived by her sisters, Telma Anderson and V. Marlene Eichhorn, her brother, Bobby (Margie) Anderson, and sister-in-law F. Adeline Anderson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jackie Anderson and Penny Johnson, as well as her brothers-in-law, Ray Johnson, Bert Anderson and C. Eddie Eichhorn.

Juanita's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the lives she encouraged, and the countless memories created throughout her 90 years. She will be remembered for her generous Christmas cheer, endless helpful spirit, and her steadfast devotion to family. Her life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, and enduring love, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the BARLOW CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME and for two hours before the service at the church on Thursday. A private burial will take place in East Lawn Memorial Park.
