Larry Joseph Huffman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on February 12th, 1941, in Marr, Ohio, Larry was a cherished resident of Marietta, Ohio, where he spent the majority of his life surrounded by family and friends.
Larry was a proud graduate of Elk Local High School, class of 1958. He dedicated 43 years at RJF/BF Goodrich, retiring in 2007. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his community and family. Larry was an active member of the Holy Name Society and the Warren Athletic Boosters, and he was honored to be inducted into the Warren Athletic Hall of Fame. His passions included woodworking, coaching baseball, and running the scoreboard for Warren football for 25 years.
Larry was a devout member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marietta, Ohio, where a Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held in his honor on Thursday, May 28th, 2026, at 10:00 am, with his brother, The Rev. Fr. David Huffman celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Rosary service will also be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:45 pm.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Nora Jean Arnold Huffman, whom he married on July 23, 1966. Together, they raised five children: Greg Huffman (Julie), Doug Huffman (Laurene), Marcy Neptune (Chris), Kirk Huffman (Maria), and Janay Howard (Craig). Larry was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren, Zoe Kresser (Mitch), Belle Melem (Alex), Lauren Huffman, Abby Welch (Jordan), Isaac Huffman (Mya), Jack Neptune, Noah Huffman (Maddie), Drew Huffman (Chloe), Sydney Buddlemeyer (Sam), Maggie Huffman, Jude Huffman, Jacob Huffman, Sophie Huffman, Henry Huffman, Hayden Howard and Reece Howard.
Six great grandchildren, Eden Huffman, Jameson Melem, Grant Huffman, Griffin Kresser, Nolan Huffman and Scarlett Melem, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Bob Huffman (Barb), Fr. David Huffman, Mark Huffman (Susan), and Chriss Miller, as well as his brother-in-law, Gerald Depuy, and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Joseph Huffman and Lorene Gertrude Zwick Huffman, his sister, Mary Depuy, and his brother-in-law, Dan Miller.
