Lawrence Edward Hurst, 79, of Marietta, Ohio, died Thursday, March 19, 2020 at his home. He was born on June 30, 1940 in Marietta, Ohio to Clifford L. and Virginia Emma Carpenter Hurst.
Lawrence is a graduate of Marietta High School. He served his country in the United States Army for 14 years. Lawrence retired from Washington State Community College in 2005 after 19 years of employment. He was a member of the American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose and H.O.G. Association.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Marie Erb Hurst, whom he married on October 13, 1965; children, Lisa Schuller (John) of St. Peters, Missouri, Teresa Haught (Mike) of Marietta, Christopher Hurst (Tara) of Marietta; seven grandchildren, Marlena Schuller, Megan Heath, Zachary Schuller, Kaylee Hurst, Nicholas Haught, Nathan Haught and Alayna Hurst; six siblings, Tammy Schmidt (Dave), Lula Hurst, Virginia Ellis, Clif Hurst (Carolyn), Bernard Hurst (Jenny) and Fred Hurst (Bonita); and many nieces and nephews.
Abiding with government recommendations for social distancing during the COVID-19 Pandemic, private family services will be held at a later date at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Burial of his ashes will take place at that time in New St. Mary's Cemetery.
