Mary Lou Pinkerton

January 20, 1931 — August 24, 2025

Barlow

Mary Lou Pinkerton, 94, of Barlow, Ohio, died on Sunday, August 24, 2025. She was born on January 20, 1931, in Belpre, Ohio, to Ervin and Flora Christopher Callihan.

Mary Lou was raised on the family farm, growing up with Ruth, Bernice, Tinker, Cleo, Glen, Jan and Tom. Life on the farm was a good clean life, learning the values of a good harvest. Her grandmother Christopher used to walk over the hill and pick up several of the kids on the ridge to go to church at Cutler Chapel. It is there she met her best friend and later her husband, Carl “Tod” Pinkerton, whom she married on June 16th, 1949.

After buying a farm up the hollow from the church, they started growing their family. They were blessed with five children, Neal Owen (Sandy), Carol Ann Schaad (Mike), Emma Lou Ostot (Eric), Joseph Dale (Dina) and Lou Ann Hamilton (John). Over time, they all married and had children of their own. In 1993 they moved from the farm to Timberline Drive in Vincent, where they celebrated having 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tod, daughter, Lou Ann, two grandsons, Nick and Josh, and siblings, Ruth, Bernice, Tinker, Glen and Jan.

Abiding with her wishes, she has been cremated, and a celebration of life will be announced on a later date.
