Mildred Ida Schwendeman

Mildred Ida Schwendeman, a beloved resident of Lowell, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on July 20, 1928, in Lowell, Ohio, Mildred lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to her family and community.

Mildred was a devoted homemaker and a pillar of her community. She was a proud graduate of Lowell High School and dedicated much of her life to serving others. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her active involvement with Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, where she served as a CCD religious instructor and President of the Catholic Women's Club for many years. Her passion for community service extended to her many community roles, notably as the Chairwoman of the Lowell Octoberfest for an impressive 43 years. Mildred also volunteered extensively with her children's school activities. Mildred's warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Mildred's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her sons Kevin (Cindy), Terry (Audrey), Mark (Mary Jo), Kim (Patti), and Greg; her daughters Diane (Charles) Palmer, Sharon (Randy) Fouss, Rosanne (Brad) Brooks, Marilyn (Dr. Michael) Moses, and Annette (Bret) Grimm. She was a cherished grandmother to 28 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 49 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Peg Huck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ida C. Schaad Huck; her beloved husband, John J. Schwendeman, whom she married on September 1, 1949; her sisters, Margaret Miller, Gertrude Arnold, and Rita Bishop; and her brothers, Walter, John, Joseph, and James Huck.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell, Ohio, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:00 am with the Rev. Victor Cinson officiating. A graveside service will follow in the church's cemetery. Visitation will be held at the LOWELL CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
