Richard Lee Gorman, 79, of Williamstown, WV, died November 11, 2025 attended by his family at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Jane, son Bryan and his wife Claire, granddaughter Winifred June, and cousin Irene.
He was born in Bryan, Ohio on September 6, 1946 to Gladys June Champion and Lyle Edgar Gorman, both of whom preceded him in death.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Richard served with the US Navy in Operation Sea Orbit (the first all nuclear fleet that circumnavigated the globe) aboard the USS Bainbridge, leaving with the rank of Boiler Technician Third Class. A man of many talents and trades, Richard worked as a manufacturing technician, construction clerk, furniture maker, educator, and as the photographer for the Erie Lions hockey team. He was passionate about his creative pursuits including 3D art, writing, and illustration. His published work includes the fantasy epic, The Last Mystic and the childrens’ book, Don’t Step on A Yellow Oak Leaf. In his spare time he loved to hike and canoe the wilderness as well as to play table top role playing games with friends.
He will be remembered as a kind father, loving husband, and loyal friend.
Following Richard's wishes, he will be cremated and a burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown, WV at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Mid-Ohio Valley, 90 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, OH 45750.
