Richard B. Hall

Richard B. Hall, 91, of Layman, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 8, 1920 in Marietta, to Edward B. and Mary Belleville Hall. Richard was served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945, during WWII, serving at Ft. Benjamin, Fr. Lawton, Ft. Lewis, Camp Horoze in Texas, in the European Theater and returned to Boston, Massachusetts on the CCNY Victory Ship. Richard worked for the River Gas Company, Hargrove Window Factory and Vanguard Paints. He was a member of Oak Hill Grange, Fairfield Council of Washington County Farm Bureau, Marietta RSVP and the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Vincent. In his later years, he and his wife, resided with their daughter and son-in-law, Liz and O.J. who took care of them, with help from the other children. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Schrader Hall, whom he married in 1942; three sons, Richard W. Hall (Jan), James E. Hall (Betty May), and John D. Hall (Linda); daughter, Elizabeth A. Pickrell (O.J.), all living now on farms in the Layman area; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a sister, Caroline Harris of Noblesville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arthur, Lawrence, and Arnold Hall; and three sisters, Legatha Peckens, Letha Jeffers, and Carol Newbry. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, with Pastor Chuck Kiser officiating, with full military honors. Visitation will be on Wednesday form 2-4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with one hour of visitation before the service at the church on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Washington County Food Pantry.
