Robert Dunham Johnson, 85, of Marietta, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Emeritus at Marietta. He was born March 7, 1927 in Boaz, WV to John and Nella Dunham Johnson. He was a graduate of Williamstown High School and Oklahoma State University, with a degree in Engineering. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was president of First Colony Corporation and owned numerous other businesses in Marietta. He was past president of the National Silo Corporation, served on the board of Bituminous Coal Contractors. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was a member of the choir and was also a member of the Hybernians. Bob was a member of the Noon Rotary Club, and trustee of Marietta College where he was very instrumental in acquiring the lights at Pioneer Park. He loved boating and was a member of the Marietta Boat Club. He was a member of the Pioneer Corvette Association and was an avid race car driver throughout his life and had raced all over the world. Following his racing career, he became a pilot, and loved to fly. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Barber Johnson; his daughter, Jan Johnson of Salt Lake City, UT, his son, John Johnson (Dawn) of Jackson, WY, and their mother, Yvonne Johnson of Marietta; Bonnie's children, Marc Theisen (Melanie) of Signal Mountain, TN, Lisa Trapasso (Paul) of Upper Arlington and Lori Theisen of Westerville, and eight grandchildren, Tanner and A.J. Johnson, Julia, Olivia, Sophia and Marc Theisen and Michael and Megan Trapasso. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Johnson. Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as celebrant. Friends may call on Thursday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Vigil Service held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery.
