Ronald "Ronnie" John Lang, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on September 17, 1953, in Lowell, Ohio to Carl Sr. and Ruth Thieman Lang, Ronnie was a cherished resident of Marietta, Ohio, where he spent his life surrounded by family and friends.
Ronnie was a proud graduate of Fort Frye High School, Class of 1972. He dedicated his career to the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he worked as an Equipment Operator and Supervisor until his retirement. His commitment to his work and his community was evident in all he did.
A devout member of St. John's Catholic Church, Ronnie was also actively involved in the Marietta Moose, Beverly Eagles, and the Knights of Columbus #4617 in Churchtown. He had a passion for tractor pulls and farming, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. His legacy of love, dedication, and community spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Monica Brooker Lang, whom he married on April 25, 1981. He leaves behind his two children, Kyle Lang (Madesta) and Stacie Heiss (Bryan), and his adored grandchildren, Chad (Macy), Blake, and Madelynn Lang, and Harper, Ali, Dreyden, and Tanner Heiss. Ronnie was also blessed with a great-grandson, Ryker Lang. He is also survived by his sister, Marian Thrasher, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Carl Jr. and Cecil Lang, his sister, Sue Newlon, and his nephew, Gene Newlon.
A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown with the Rev. David Gaydosik officiating and a graveside service will follow in the church's cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOMES In Marietta, Ohio, on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, with visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. John’s Central School, 17654 Ohio 676, Marietta, OH 45750, in Ronnie's memory. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley and her hospice staff who took great care of Ronnie.
