Ruth Jarrell Ewing, 88, of Marietta, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Harmar Place in Marietta. She was born on January 8, 1931 in Beckley, WV, to Roy and Vergie Davidson Hilbert.
Ruth retired from Montgomery Ward as an Office Manager, after 45 years of employment. She was a member of Harmar Hill Church of Christ. Ruth had a vest for life and never missed an opportunity to help. She spent many hours volunteering for the Warren VFD Women's Auxillary. Ruth loved working with the children at Warren Elementary, where she was best known as "Aunt Ruthie". She will best be remembered for how much she loved her family.
She is survived by nieces, Louise Gwinn (Sam) and Bettie Lively; nephew, Steve Lickliter; great nieces and nephews, Theresa Morrison (Ken), Susan Smith, Amy Sloan, Ed Gwinn (Marilyn) and David Lively (Amy); great great nieces and nephews, Kendel Frye (Jason), Allison Dunlap (Dustin), Chase Hughes (Stephanie) and Emma Lively; and great great great nieces and nephews, Ross and Davis Frye and Ellie and Vera Dunlap, who brought great joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett E. Ewing, whom she married on September 13, 1962; and two sisters, Marcella Miller and Emogene Lickliter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Preacher J.D. Conley officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
