Sandra "Sandy" Catherine Forshey, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, just days shy of her 82nd birthday. Born on June 29, 1943, in Marietta, Ohio to Lawrence and Margaret O,Brien Reynolds, Sandy spent her entire life in the community she cherished, residing in Marietta, Ohio.
Sandy was a dedicated beautician, having earned her license from the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board and received her training from the Ohio Valley School of Cosmetology. She owned and operated Sandy's Beauty Salon, where she not only styled hair but also created a welcoming space in her own home for friends and clients alike. Her passion for beauty and style was evident in every haircut and conversation shared within her salon.
A devoted homemaker, Sandy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid horse enthusiast and took great pride in her baking, cooking, and canning. Her home was filled with warmth and the delightful aroma of her culinary creations. Sandy also had a fondness for collecting Fenton Bells and glass and porcelain owl figurines, treasures that reflected her unique personality and love for beauty. She will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to her family and community, and the beauty she brought into the lives of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dave Forshey, whom she married on June 16, 1962. She leaves behind her cherished son, Dan Forshey, and her adored granddaughters, Katelyn, Emily, and Charlotte Forshey. Sandy's life was enriched by the special friendships she shared with Bob and Patty Reynolds, and Kay Santee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sandy's life at a funeral service on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Whipple, Ohio with Pastor Jeff Baumer officiating. A graveside service will follow the service at Salem Township Cemetery in Lower Salem, Ohio. Visitation will be held at the church for two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Twin Rivers Baptist Church Children's Sunday School, 110 DAV Road, Whipple, OH 45788, in Sandy's memory.
