Shirley Jean Grosklos

Shirley Jean Grosklos, a beloved resident of Vincent, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Appletree Assisted Living in Barlow, Ohio at the age of 91. She was born on March 1, 1935, in Akron, Ohio to Clyde and Mabel Stanley Jackson and was a cherished member of her community and a devoted friend and family member.

Shirley was a proud graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1952. She dedicated her life to being a homemaker, creating a warm and loving environment for her family and friends. Her kindness and generosity were evident in her active participation in the Lighthouse Baptist Church and her weekly gatherings with friends at the library, where they shared food, games, and laughter.

Shirley had a passion for writing letters, capturing memories through photography, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life, such as dining out with friends and watching boats along the river. Her warmth and spirit touched everyone she met.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Clyde Jackson; her loving friends, Steve and Sherry Eddleblute; two nieces, Tina Bohl (Randy) and Heather Buck (Don); and her nephew, Bill Jackson (Sandy). Her family and friends will forever cherish her memory and the love she shared with them. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Rill Lewis Grosklos, whom she married on June 2, 1961; her son, Vaughn Eric Grosklos; her daughter, Jan Grosklos; her sister-in-law, Edith Jackson; her nephew, Kenneth Michael Jackson; and her Aunt Gladys and Uncle Virgil Carver, who lovingly cared for her during her youth.

A funeral service will be held at the BARLOW CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME in Barlow, Ohio, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 3:00 pm with visitation being held two hours prior. A graveside service will follow at Tunnel Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio, at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 121, Barlow, OH 45712, in Shirley's honor.
