Shirley Ann Wilson

June 16, 1935 — May 21, 2020

Shirley Ann Gaughan Wilson, passed away peacefully at her home at May 21, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley Ann was born on June 16, 1935 at the Kelly Homestead in Cutler, Ohio to the late Joseph Patrick Gaughan, Sr. and the late Grace Mae Kelly Gaughan. A 1953 graduate of Vincent High School in Vincent, Ohio and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, WV. She retired from Marietta Memorial Hospital in 1995.

Shirley Ann loved God, her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends and her faithful companion, her dog, Gracie and she enjoyed and cherished so very much the time spent with them. She also enjoyed T.J.'s beautiful wildflowers, birds, traveling, quilting, genealogy, reading, music and collecting antiques. Shirley was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, St. Mary Catholic Women's Club, Ohio Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Alderson Broaddus Nursing Alumni Association, Vincent High School Alumni Association, Washington County Historical Society, and the Washington County Right to Life.

Shirley Ann is survived by her husband, Thomas James "T.J." Wilson, the love of her life. They were high school sweethearts while attending different high schools. They were married April 20, 1954.

She is also survived by one son, Patrick J. Wilson of Marietta, two daughters, Cheyenne M. Duncan and husband, Greg of Elizabeth City, NC and Pamela J. Huck and husband Fred of Marietta; two granddaughters, Jennifer Meek Toelle and husband, David of Salina, KS and Stephanie Bowes Flanagan of Vincent; two grandsons, Derek Burton of Virginia Beach, VA and Zachary Bowes of Marietta; step grandson, Josh Duncan and his wife Jennifer of Glenshaw, PA; great grandchildren include Trae and Tenille Toelle, Emmalyn Burton, Savannah Flanagan, Marcus Rohrbaugh, Carter and Bryston Lockhart, Colson Flanagan and Emeri Bowes; and step great grandchildren include Bentley and Zoey Flanagan and Tegan and Shiloh Duncan.

She is also survived by one brother, Gary Gaughan, Sr. and wife, Carol. Three sisters, Janice Gaughan Samples and husband, Melvin, Diane Gaughan and Patricia Gaughan Haynes and husband, Richard. And many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Shirley Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joseph Gaughan, Jr. and wife Rose; her sister Donna Gaughan Pritchett and husband Randall; her aunt, Joan M. Kelly Lemon; maternal grandparents, Robert Francis and Flossie May Brandeberry Kelly, Sr; and paternal grandparents, Patrick James and Margaret Agnes Kirchner Gaughan.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, in Marietta, with The Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell as the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Little Hocking, Ohio. Family and friends may visit at church for one hour prior to the service.
