It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Joseph Baumgard, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, who left us on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on October 10th, 1969, in Marietta, Ohio.
Steve was a graduate of Warren High School, with the class of 1988. He dedicated his life to serving his community through his work with four Washington County Law Enforcement Agencies. His career spanned 24 years as a 911 dispatcher, was also a Deputy Bailiff, and finished his career with the Washington County Sheriff's Department. His commitment to public service was further exemplified by his time in the Air Force, where he served his country with honor.
Steve was a man of many passions. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 64, and found joy in golfing, woodworking, fishing, and playing cards. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Ann Baumgard, and his loving mother, Linda Baumgard. Steve was a proud father to his son, Luke Baumgard, and a loyal brother to his sister, Andrea Morris (Scott). He is also survived by his father-in-law, Raymond Huber, and sisters-in-law Vicki Marth (Chip) and Shelly Gieringer, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Leo Baumgard, and his mother-in-law, Helen Huber.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home in Marietta, Ohio, on Friday, July 25th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Marietta, Ohio, on Saturday, July 26th, 2025, at 10:00 am.
