Thomas Lee Van Ness

Thomas Lee "Tom" Van Ness, 57, of Marietta, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born June 15, 1953 in Joy, Ohio to Robert Dale and Barbara Alice Robertson Van Ness. He was a 1972 graduate of Morgan High School. He had worked for Ohio Oil Gathering Corp. for 33 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Jean North Van Ness, they were married on November 26, 1976; two daughters, Amy Stoffel (Scott) of Lowell and Ginger Lauderman (Dustin) of Lowell; a son, Casey Van Ness (special friend, Trisha Shea and her son, Owen) of the home; three grandchildren, Hunter and Makayla Stoffel and Lainey Lauderman; three sisters, Katie Murphy (Joe) of Tuppers Plains, Sandy Carpenter of Marietta and Patricia Hooper (John) of Belpre; a brother, Tim Van Ness (Kathy) of Bartlett; mother in law, Patricia North, of Chesterhill, several nieces, nephews and in laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Johnny Hooper, and father in law, Clarence North. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Athens County. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
